What is the best way to travel from Salzburg to Berchtesgaden in late November...Bus or Train? Also, is the high price for the Eagle's Nest worth it? Thanks.
I think either bus or train would be fine. The Eagle's Nest is worth it but the road up the mountain will probably be closed in November.
Hi Jim
Lane is correct - The Eagles Nest is not open then, it closes by the end of October, depending on weather.

Had it been open, if the weather was good, the price would be worth it. Often the clouds hang low, and visibility is compromised. The process of getting there is pretty amazing too, the elevator, the road to the base is a fun ride.
You might still consider visiting the Berchtesgaden and as far as getting there, bus or train are about equal. Driving is quicker and easier though.
Jim, we rented a car, and spent one night driving all over the whole area. Topped it off with a nice gelatto in Berchtesgaden. It was well worth it. Beautiful scenery.
