Benelux or Lyon & Switzerland in November??

We will be driving to Salzburg, Vienna & Prague via roundtrip Paris. We can either incorporate Brugge & Amsterdam then across Germany or head South to Lyon and cross through Switzerland over to Austria and Prague. Would anyone recommend one route over the other given the time of year (early November)?
