We are flying into Zurich for 2 days and then taking the train to Florence. Wondering if Bellizona is a good stopping place for family with children (9-13 yrs old) to walk around, go to castle, enjoy August weather prior to traveling to Florence? Is there another town along the train route you would recommend more? thanks, Elaine (from Washington DC)

I had to transfer in Bellinzona when coming from Locarno. i didn't get to check out Bellinzona but Locarno is a small resort town on the lake...really beautiful. You can walk along the path around the lake, there's a cable car that takes you to Madonna del Sasso. From there you can check out the old church or take another car to go get to the top of the mountain
