we will be taking a short 2 day trip to Belgium this weeend. Does anyone know a good place to visit aroung Brussels that the kids would also enjoy?
Too easy. Anyplace with chocolate, waffles & french fries - which is pretty much anyplace.
Bruges would be fun for kids.
Oh, if you go to Brussels - there's always the Pis Mannekin, which I'm sure young boys would get a chuckle out of (for about 5 minutes). After that, I'd head to the comic book museum. Although I still think Bruges would hold their attention longer (true for kids of any age).
I'm a kid at heart - I enjoyed the Atomium. Adjacent to the Atomium is a park called Mini-Europe which has 1:25 scale replicas of a number of European monuments.
Second the recommendation for MiniEurope. The models are even somewhat interactive- push a button, and you here the country's national anthem, or the model moves in some way.
If it's warm enough, there's a waterpark next door.
Depending on where your route takes you, there are also a few amusement parks. I don't remember the exact name (something like "Waliland"), but there's one near Wavre. There are three "Plopslands" (based on a popular Belgian TV show), one in De Panne, one near Blankenberg, and an indoor park in Hasselt.
