We are planning to join a R.Steve's tour which begins in Brussels. It would be nice to recover from jet-lag in a nice location for two nights easy to reach from the Brussels airport. While another option would be to fly to Paris and enjoy two nights there, it appeals to us to relax and get ready for the tour someplace we won't be going to on the tour (which will cover Brussels and Bruge, etc.) Any suggestions on towns/cities and/or hotels/inns/B&B's?
Try Leuven, which is one rail stop away from the airport. It's a relatively small university city. Doesn't really have any sites other than the magnificent Stadhuis and the begijnhof (which every Belgian city has one of), but nice and lively enough to stroll around for a day or two while you recover from jetlag. Hasselt is another small city that is even prettier, but it's a little further away.
Thanks! I did read a little bit about possibilities and that was one of the cities mentioned.
PS- I don't know the name, but there's a hotel located directly across from the train station in Leuven. Couldn't be easier to reach for a jet-lagged traveler.
