I'm going to be travelling from Frankfurt to Paris via Belgium and the Netherlands (Fly into Frankfurt Feb 2, Fly out of Paris Feb 10). Any suggestions on where to visit? I will have been in Europe for 4 months prior to this trip, so I'm fine with just staying in one place per country...
Thanks!
Have you been to Paris? If not, I would spend ALL my time there. It is my favorite city and there is SO much to see and do. It is also very easy to do day trips out: Versailles, Chartres, Giverny (well, maybe not in Feb), Fontainebleu, Chantilly.
On the way to Belgium, route yourself along the Rhine River and stop for a tour of Marksburg Castle, on the Rhine just south of Koblenz in the town of Braubach:
I'd start down the Rhine. Stop in Koln and Bonn. Head toward Amsterdam or nearby towns. Then through Brugges toward Paris.
There are some choices along the way, such as Marksburg castle. You should read about the options and pick the ones that appeal most to you.
I would spend at least one day in Frankfurt and skip spending time in Bonn. There is lots to see here. Cologne is cool too, as is Trier which is close by. In Belgium, try Antwerp along with visiting Brugge. Great harbor city.
