Bed and Breakfasts in Provence

We are embarking on our first trip to Europe. We will be going from Barcelona to Provence and would love accommodations that provide us with a genuine, authentic French experience, not just sleek hotels. I'd appreciate any suggestions or recommendations for a memorable stay in a clean, friendly, well cared for, well serviced and preserved B&B.

Thanks! -Debbie

We used karenbrown.com yes, they are slightly upscale, but were a "wow" experience everywhere we stayed. The one in Utz was the most memorable because we were helped in finding the local wineries.
I know you would like names, however, most of our travels were before we found this site, so,we didn't keep detailed records.

We stayed in the small hilltop village of Venasque in the Vaucluse region at Le Mas du Kairos a very nice and reasonalbly priced B&B. The owners were very helpful in suggesting what to see in the area and we enjoyed our stay there. If your desire is to stay in a larger town or city, this place isn't for you, but if you have a car and enjoy the countryside this is the place. Here's their web site:

I highly recommend the Hotel le Beffroi in Vaison la Romaine, not a B&B but certainly a friendly place as well as clean, friendly, well cared for, well serviced and preserved. The buildings are 16th century and the views are memorable. Breakfast on the terrace is equally wonderful. Have a wonderful trip!

Best of the Best: Stone House Bed and Breakfast, Caux, France, near Penzas and Montpellier...small, remote, near the coast...excelent location and excellent hosts. Not out of your way at all if you are traveling from Barcelona to Provance. The village is not a tourist site, well preserved. My favorite! Tell the owners I recommended it!

Recommendation for Spain: Castle de Emporda..."luxury' B&B but worth it.

Vaison La Romaine - Any of the lodging in the citie medieval - if you are in a very small automobile that is...fantastic lodging and great food there as well...
