BED AND BREAKFAST NEAR MUNICH

We looking for a B&B on the outskirts of Munich near public transportation. Would consider a Farm Stay. Any personal reccommendations? I've done the usual internet searchs.

any particular reason you want to stay on the outskirts? Usuallly that means you have a rental car and you're trying to find parking.

Yes, we will have a car and I think public transportation works better in big cities. Also you can stay for a lot less money in the outskirts. We usually try to stay in rural areas whereever we go. It's just the way we like it.

Können Sie Deutsch sprechen?

I know of a traditionally German hotel in an eastern suburb, but they don't speak English and asked me not to recommend them to non-German speaking tourists.

I could recommend a place in the town of Landsberg am Lech. It's about an hour by train from Munich Hbf, but right in town. I'm not sure how easy parking is at the hotel. There are parking places shown on the map around it, but they might be pay lots. You could also park at the train station. It's a short walk into town, and there are buses.

You might also consider the area around Holzkirchen, also about an hour by train from Munich. Although the place where I stayed, near Bayerischzell, is a little far out, there are plenty of places closer in.

Several years ago we stayed at Gasthaus Bauer. Here's their website: http://www.gaestehausbauer-gauting.de/

This pension is in the town of Gauting which is southwest of Munich. It's an easy 5 minute walk to the S-Bahn that takes you into the city. The pension is also easy to drive to and there is plenty of parking since it's located in a residential area. The rooms were great with a bathroom. As you can see from the pictures, there's a large breakfast buffet. Have fun on your trip!

I'll second the recommendations for Landsberg (for farther away) and Gauting (for closer in)... though I personally prefer to stay within a couple hundred feet of the Viktualienmarkt (stumbling distance) when 'in' Munich. EDIT: To clarify, I have not stayed in either of those hotels, but am familiar with the locations, and those locations could easily fit your needs.

Lee...

I would stongly recommend staying at Hotel Munchner Kindl. Although it is in Munich, the prices are unbeatable. We stay there every time we travel to Munich (the last time was for Octoberfest in Sept). It is right off from the Marienplatz and a few minutes walk to the train station.

If you can, I would like the name of the "traditionally" German hotel as my husband born & raised in Germany, now lives in US. We are planning trip for Sept,2011 and thinging after leaving Munich, traveling towards Kochel am See, staying at Hotel Schmid Von Kochel. Any other recommendations for that area? Thanks Andrea

It looks like Sepperlwirt is a short distance from Andechs.
