I will be traveling from Loire Valley and have 2 days before I need to be in Paris. Is is worth the long drive to visit Beaune? or does anyone have any other ideas? we will be there in early July.
Tough one. If you are really into wine and food, yes. If not, maybe no. We spent a week in Beaune with another family. Lovely place. But there are many lovely places in France.
I'd say if you enjoy wine, its definately worth a stop. Just remember to spit in the barrel if you stop for a tasting along the road. Save the bottle for the hotel room.:)
A definite yes. We loved Beaune. The scenic drive in RS France guide which includes the small village of Chateauneuf-en-Auxois was a major highlight for us. I highly recommend it.
It's worth it if you want to go. If you don't want to spend two extra days in Paris or in the Loire, then Beaune could be a good place to go. I'm not sure where in the Loire you're going to know how far out of the way - or not - Beaune is. There might be another city on your route worth a visit as well.
I'm a Burgundy fan but am inclined to say no, it's not worth the drive for such a short stay in the region. Still it is up to you. Perhaps were you to share you whole itinerary and constraints we could make a suggestion of other ways to spend those 2 days.
