Beaune vs Dijon

Hello All, I was looking to spend 2 nights in the Burgundy region. I will not have a car so train accessibility is important. I will be coming from Reims and wanted to do alot of wine tasting. It will be our honeymoon trip so looking for something nice and relaxing but with evening options. Which of these 2 cities do you reccomend staying in? Any hotels in particular? Any wine tours you can reccomend? We will be going in February which I know is not ideal vineyard season but hopefully they are open. Thanks for all the help in advance.

Either would be a good choice. I found Dijon to be a bit sprawling for a short visit, though in my case I only spent a day and a night there. I left feeling as though I had no real sense of it. If by "evening options" you mean theaters or music, Dijon is probably the place. On the other hand I liked Beaune a lot. It is small and friendly. There are several excellent tasting options right in town and some very, VERY good restaurants. I was there for two days and nights and spent part of that time on a bicycle visiting vineyards and other sights. I recommend that (and there are many flat routes around Beaune), but it did color my experience. There's lots to see in Beaune, but maybe not enough for two whole days. There are frequent trains between Beaune and Dijon so you can visit both places without a car.

Seconds on Beaune. We stayed at Les Jardines De Lois. A very nice b&b and winery fairly close to the train station. You will be able to get around easier. I bought 12 bottles of their wine and brought it home.
Thanks - Bill

Beaune!!! The train station is on the circle road around the city. Easy access to the many inns there. Easy to walk all around the city. I stayed there and had friends who stayed at the same time in Dijon. They said they wished they were in Beaune with me. I stayed at a Best westerd (!!!) Hotel Phillip V or somesuch just on the edge of the gate, outside the city. Good and a great stay.

Beaune! Be sure to take the self-guided tour through the miles of underground wine cellars. The sheer size of those caves is amazing. Have a great trip!

My vote also goes for Beaune. Very walkable, bikes can be rented, good restaurants, etc. We enjoyed Marche Aux Vins for wine tasting. The town is quite pretty and be sure to take the train that runs around the city for an overview. Enjoy!

I loved Beaune! It is easy to walk and a beautiful small town. I took a great tasting tour at a wine cave. Loved it!

Another vote for Beaune and for Jardin de Lois... probably the best value B&B we've ever stayed at, and within walking distance of everything you'll want in Beaune.
