Beaune Hotels & Tips

I am looking for recommendations on hotels in Beaune for the first weekend in October. Ideally we'd like something near the center for under 100euros if possible. Ricks book has some recommendations but none of them seem to fit the bill, while still maintaining some character! Any suggestions? Thanks All!!

Any other tips for what to see/do there is welcome as well!

While its not in the city center, Le Hotel is only about a 15 minute walk. I've stayed there twice. The owner is reputed to be American. I don't know, I never met her. Its a comfortable and quiet old home turned into a hotel. It has parking, a nice garden and a good breakfast. Modern bathrooms, cable TV and maybe internet. If I remember correctly it was 60 to 80 Euro.

The Hospice is a must see. Its the first hospice in the world.

The Hotel King Henry V or somesuch, just outside one of the walled city entrances is good. And, of course, "all of the city" would be my recommendation. It is filled with many great sites, the Hospital being the most famous.

Jessica~~In 2006 we thoroughly enjoyed Hôtel des Remparts. I have noticed that Rick's Tours have stayed there. In Rick's 2010 France, the price for a Double room is shown at 88-110 Euro.

If you are renting a car, and a portion of your Beaune itinerary involves vineyards or scenic drives, you might stay in a gite/B&B in one of the small towns just outside Beaune. With this arrangement, you could still visit Beaune proper, by parking in the lot just outside the ramparts.

If do have a car you might like the Mercure just outside the walls. The hotel is not big on atmosphere, standard Mercure rooms if there is such a thing, - if as we are you are over 50 you can get 2 for 1 breakfasts -, a large free car park (don't park in the pay lot next door), and super easy location for the old town, very easy access to the vineyards, too.

We thoroughly enjoyed our recent stay (June 26,27) at Hotel La Villa Fleurie. The AC was great since we were there in the midst of the heat wave, and Mme Chartier is a gracious hostess. I haven't waded through all our receipts yet, but I'm pretty sure our large double room was less than 100 Euros per night. The garden is a nice plus also w/ a table and comfy lawn chairs. It's only about 3-4 blocks walk into the center of Beaune.
