Beatles in London

Are there any Beatles-related sites in London? We don't have
time to take a day trip to Liverpool.

Technically, there are probably far more Beatle-related sites in London than Liverpool, but London doesn't shamelessly promote them like Liverpool. The most obvious site is the EMI recording studio on Abbey Road, near the St. John's Wood tube station.

London Walks (www walks.com) offers two different Beatles tours each about two hours long. Both tours end up at Abbey Road but the rest is different. And Richard, who gives the tour, knows more about the Beatles than anyone.

The Beatles Magical Mystery Tour takes place
every Wednesday at 2 pm,
every Thursday at 11 am,
and every Sunday at 10.55 am.

The Beatles In My Life Walk takes place:
every Tuesday at 11.20 am
and every Saturday at 11:20 am

For detailed info on what you see and where to meet, go to the London Walks website. I did the tours many years ago and really enjoyed them. And since both go to Abbey Road, you can skip that part on the second tour to save time.

The walks are 7 pounds each but kids under 15 are free. You can get a discount card that will save you money but it's been a long time since I had one so I don't remember much about it. Over the years I've done over a dozen London Walks and was never disappointed.

The British Library has several original manuscripts
of Beatle's songs in their handwriting. Sorry, I
don't remember titles. They are in the treasure room
along with other priceless UK documents such as the
Magna Carta. No cost for admission.

Hi Peggy, I am a huge Beatles fan. Growing up, all my parents listened too was the Beatles (our living room was decorated in their collectors items). On a recent trip to London, my husband and I went to Abbey Road and saw the famous crossing from their album cover and the studio where they recorded most of their songs. I can't remember exactly what line to go on, but the tube station is St. James Woods. Once you get outside the station, there is a little cafe on the left that will give you a map on how to get there (5 minute walk). I was unable to take a picture of crossing the street because there were too many cars at the time, but I plan on going back and trying again! Have fun!
