Bayeux & Paris

We are a family of 4, 2 adults and 2 teens traveling to Bayeux then Paris in late June and July. We're planning two nights in Bayeux and 4 in Paris. Any recommendations of places to stay. *We're thinking a flat in Paris but open to other ideas.

Tamara - You might want to check the Vacation in Paris website for Paris apartments. In Bayeux, I loved the Hotel d'Argouges. Great location and people. Beautiful building and garden.

Yes, I agree with Grier. We stayed at that hotel and it is perfect for a family of four. I also had two teenagers and there was plenty of room, a huge bathroom as well and centrally located. A wonderful breakfast as well.

Totally agree with Grier, Vacation in Paris and Hotel D'Argouges in Bayeux - loved that hotel.

Thanks for the suggestion. We will definitely look into it. Did any of you do a a D-day tour while there? I've seen many posts on the Overlord tours. Also one Paris question. I've found 2 flats that seem great and fit our budget. One is in Marais near Place des Vosge, the other is on the left bank, 5th district. Any thoughts of which location would be better? We will be there for 4 days. Thanks!

We've been to Normandy 6 times (we love it that much) and did a 1 day tour once which we liked and got a lot out of, but other than that we've toured all the WWII sites on our own. I think for a first-timer, a tour is a good idea. But driving in Normandy is super easy if you want to do it on your own. Also, the WWII museum in Bayeux is the very best one imo. Of the two Paris neighborhoods, they're both great. If I knew what street in the 5th I could be more helpful, but generally both areas are really good so I would pick the best apt of the two.

I really like the Marais (have stayed there on my last two trips) and Place des Vosges is lovely. The 5th is nice too.

Susan,
The place in the 5th is about 6 streets away from Jardin Des Plantes. It's a little more money so we are leaning towards the flat in Le Marais. We also found one more in the 3rd on Rue Volta. Some many choices! Thanks for your input!

If both apartments are equally nice, I'd go with the one in the Marais. Enjoy!
