We will take the 9:06 RE train to Kahl from the HBF on monday with a bayern ticket. To get to the HBF, do we need to buy a local train ticket MVV or is the bayern ticket okay on the S/U bahn in munich before 9am?

According to the published information on the Bayern-Ticket, it is only valid after 9 AM workdays, so I don't think you can use it to get to the Hbf in the morning. If you are in the inner transit zone (Innenraum) of the MVV, a single ride ticket to the Hbf will cost you 2,50€ per adult.

it is just a 10-minute ride on the S/U bahn but it is scary not to have a ticket even if we have never been checked in the metro system, whether berlin, munich or even krakow on this trip. we will get the 3-day pass which will be for the week-end plus monday. thanks, lee.

That (3-day Innenraum Tageskarte) works as long as you don't plan to go out to Dachau, which is not in the Innenraum. If you wanted to go to Dachau, an XXL Tageskarte that day, an Innenraum Tageskarte the other, and single tickets to the Hbf would be the best deal.
