We plan to buy a Bavarian castle pass next month for a two week trip. It obviously saves money but does it save time...are there shorter lines when using it?
I bought a Bavarian Castle and Garden pass in 2007 and used it for Linderhof, Marienberg Fortress, Würzburg Residenz, Nürnberg Castle, and the Castle at Burghausen. In no venue did they have a special line for pass holders, but, then, I never encountered any lines to speak of (this in early October). In Hohenschangau there definitely is not a special line for pass holders, but holders of reservations get a faster line. BTW, the castle pass only includes Neuschwanstein, not the Hohenschwangau castle.
We are planning to go to hohenschwangau as well Neuschwantein but I'm not sure if I should just reserve for Hohenschwangau then use the Bavarian Castle pass for Neuschwanstein after I get there...I know they sell them together there and you see them in order. We will be there on Saturday morning, Oct 15 and want to do the first tour of the day(arriving the 14th). Web site says they open at 9 on the web site but not what time the first tour begins. My concern there is that even in mid October it might be crowded on Saturday morning. thanks so much for the advice.
