We are taking a trip in Sept. through Germany, Austria, and Switzerland and need to choose between spending 2-3 days in Bavaria or in the Black Forest. Rather than spliting the time, we would rather spend more quality time in just one of the areas. Can anyone contrast the 2 and give us their opinion? Thanks

No contest..Bavaria. Th area south of Munich to the Austrian border is just gorgeous. Small villages, the mountains, Hitler's Eagle nest..castles, I can't wait to go back

Thanks, Richard. I'm guessing from your reply that the Black Forest doesn't hold a candle to Bavaria. That's what I suspected, but wasn't sure.

I have visited both and agree with Richard. The Black Forest is a very treasured area in Germany but it may remind you more of home (at least it did me.) Therefore, the Bavaria area seemed much more unique to me. While both are worth a visit, If I could only see one, I would choose Bavaria. Have fun.
