I have e-mailed several touring companies in the Normandy area about a tour in early Dec. However, I have not received any reply from any of them. Battlefield Tour is one of them. Does anyone know of others?
BattleBus out of Bayeux. http://www.battlebus.fr/ They are highly recommended.
The Caen Memorial Museum does tours right from the museum. They offer some decent package deals as well if you are looking to stay in Caen. I was pleased with their tour, but didn't get to see everything I wanted to. There is so much to see there. Next time we will hopefully rent a car.
Stuart Robertson is an ex-Battlebus guide who gives tours: http://www.normandybattletours.com/
Jim, it's very possible that at least some of the tour companies are now closed for the winter (which could explain why they haven't replied to your E-mails). In order to run tours, some firms need to have a minimum number of bookings which is more difficult to achieve in winter as there are fewer travellers. ¶ I would highly recommend BattleBus, but you could also have a look at Overlord Tours or D-Day Battle Tours (Ellwood von Seibold). Happy travels!
