I am definitely heading to Bastogne a def must-see on my list. I can spend 2 nights/2-1/2 days in the area (coming from Paris). I see where I'd be close enough to Germany to see the castle in the area. Suggestions on a B&B or economical hotel somewhere in the middle? I thought maybe I could rent a car if need be, but prefer bus/train. Thx!

No particular castle ... they all look amazine. I'm sure some are more interesting then others. I have looked at Trier and a few other areas. I've also looked at Moselle and that surrounding area.

I have. I've always been fascinated by that history. My kids' Dad did several battlefield studies of the area and re-enlisted at Patton's grave. I like wine, too ... so thought I could mix some history sightseeing with some wine tasting --- if it's do-able.
