Bastille Day with teenage girls

My wife and I along with my 13/16yr old daughters will be in in Paris on Bastille Day. The question I have is should I plan to get out of town . ie: Versailles. Or should I just stay put and check out the festivities in town.
Thanks for your help....

There's a parade with a fly-by overhead. The mob builds (along the Champs) about three hours before it starts and is gone an hour after it's over. Move off a couple of blocks and you won't know anything's going on except for a few people along the river watching the airplanes.

There are fireworks from the ET later that night.

I wouldn't bother to budge.

Not sure how exciting the parade will be to teens, but do stay for the evening show. Just about the best party celebration we have ever been to. It doesn't get dark until late, so the fireworks, laser show, etc. don't begin until about 23:00. It is fantastic and I am betting that your girls will rave about it for a long time. We still do and it has been 5 years since we saw it.

The Metro will be very crowded on the way home, so consider walking and enjoying watching everybody having a great time. Take a picnic dinner to eat like everyone else does.
