Basel - Swiss Scenic Journeys - Cinque Terre - Rome - 6D/5N

Hello Everybody,

I am new here and this is my first post(many more to come:)

I am travelling on a budget and need some help in planning my part of Switzerland and Italy in the above direction. I will be arriving Basel airport in early May at 1830(1st day) and prepared to reach Rome by the 6th day late or 7th day morning. My biggest problem is planning the Swiss part, being most costly and too many options.

My interest in Switzerland will be mainly on the alps, glaziers, lakes and scenic journeys rather than the towns or cities. Among my choice will be RS's Grimmelwald & Jungfrau, Lucerne and Bernina Express since I am onwrds to Italy. For the Italy part, I hope to do RS's CT, at least through all the 5 villages(hoping to beat his son's time record if possible:) As my time is so limited, I am prepared to rush. I can walk fast and won't stay too long in any place in order to see more. Cost and budget will be my priority in planning but prepared to splurge a little in Switzerland to get the best scenery.
I hope some of you can help to give some ideas as where or how I shall do it. Since I have 4 full days in between, I wonder if I can do Lucern - Pilatus or Riggi, Interlaken-Grimmewald-Jungfrau, Bernina Express and CT one whole day, is this possible ?
Which Swiss Pass shall I go for or is it better to pay sector by sector since so few days ?
I wish to add that I will be back to do more of Switzerland and Italy in July again so taking into considerations which places and sceneries are better between those 2 months will be appreciated.
Thank you all for your patience and time in reading through and any help provided will be very much gratefully felt.
P.S. I am from Asia and any help in return on informations form my part of the world is most welcome.

I spent 4 days in Switzerland last week. We did a night in Basel and 3 nights in Murren, which is in the Lauterbrunnen valley. The bad news is that Switz is extremely expensive. I think on a good day, you'll still pay around $80/night for a room, not sure if that is in your budget. Also, food is expensive. We ate our share of ham sandwiches from the local grocery store!
You'll need a day in Lucerne and I would spend most time in the Alps, not Basel or other cities. Don't waste your time on Interlaken. Just my recommendations!
