I'm looking for a stop-over point to break up a 6 hour drive to Zermatt, and Basel looks like a convenient location. I've driven past this city on the autobahn several times before but never ventured within the city- the view from the road is uninspiring enough that the city has never tempted me to stop and have a look. So, is the inner city a little more pleasant and walkable, or is it more or less the same as it looks from the autobahn?
Easy to walk, easy to park, more trams per sq metre than anywhere else I've ever seen, hilly, super clean, nice market, 4 current propelled ferries crossing the Rhein for €0.50 a pop, nice walks riverside, compact, recently had an installation of about 24 toddler dolls on Roombas zipping around a white room.
