We are visiting the places in Italy that my families people are from. Can anyone recommend places to stay in that region of Italy?

Vito, don't stay in Bari; stay anywhere outside of Bari, but don't stay there. Nice town for a quick visit during the day, but that is it. Pick up a Lonely Planet guidebook, and do some reading, then decide where you want to stay.
