I've been to France on numerous occasions, but have always wanted to take a barge vacation. Does anyone have any experience with that? A reputable company to use? Suggested routes?

We have traveled twice with French Country Waterways, and we loved both experiences. We preferred the trip through Burgundy over our later trip to Alsace-Lorraine, although on both trips they took very, very good care of us. The barges are small and beautifully kept. The meals were delicious, and every day there was a different excursion to wherever we happened to be that day. These trips are not inexpensive, but everything is included, even bicycles on board that you can ride through the countryside and into the villages. We highly recommend this company.
