Barge in France

I am interested in doing a 4 - 5 day barge cruise in France and wonder if anyone has done one and how they found it. I will be travelling alone and don't really have a preference as to the area to do. Any comments would be welcomed.

We have rented our own self-drive boat in Europe numerous times.
In France I loved the area around Burgandy. We were on the Petite Saoen.
Don't do Alscae Lorraine area. We are hoping to do the Canal du Midi someday.
We have done the Thames, Wales, and Venice Lagoon.
Friends have take numerous luxary barge cruise in differnent locations in Europe, which is the type of trip I think you are looking for.
Do a google search. Go to www.google.com and type in Europe barge cruise or French Barge cruise and see what come up.
It a a great - slow way to see the countryside.

Helen, haven't seen you on the site in awhile.

As for barging, I haven't done it but a favorite video from years ago was "Barging Through Europe". The journey began in Belgium and went down what I think was the Seine into Paris where it turned and went under a large part of the City. It then went lock after lock until it reached Germany. The people staffing the locks were most colorful. Have fun.

Just another thought, do a one-way trip when you canal barge. Going downstream I think is prettier. Most organized trips are one week long, usually Sat to Sat.
