Hi,
I'm planning to trip to visit Barcelona and Paris in June. What is the best way to travel from one city to the other? I'll probably fly open-jaw. It looks like the only trains are overnight and cost a lot, while flying seems really cheap (any hidden fees?) Is there any good reasons to choose train over air (or vice versa?) If I take the train, is there any place in between that's worth visiting for a couple of days? Thanks!
Several airlines fly that route, 1hr 45mins flight time plus time to get to airport, etc., go here http://www.skyscanner.net/flights/pari/bcn/090305/airfares-to-barcelona-from-paris-in-march-2009.html?di=1Train is about 9 hrs station to station time, go here http://bahn.hafas.de/bin/query.exe/enYou'll want to compare price and time, using both websites.
Actually, only one of the four discount airlines flies from Paris "Beauvais" airport.....and into Barcelona "Girona." The other three use either CDG or Orly, and Barcelona's main airport. You might also want to check with the "big guys." With discount competition, Air France, Iberia, and Spanair will likely give you comparable rates, but with better schedules.
Trains are downtown to downtown, and you save on the cost of a hotel. Go to sleep in Spain..wakeup in Paris.
Planes get you there in a hurry....but many of the discount airlines dont fly you to the main airport (Orly or CDG) but rather Beauvais which is available only by bus shuttle and a long way out.
Your pick
Check out iberia regional flight at www.airnostrum.es. Took a flight recently out from Barcelona. Cheap and good.
