We are traveling from Barcelona to Beziers in June but I'm having trouble finding a way to get there! Rail Europe shows one train daily, but I am unable to book or reserve seats. I checked into car rental one way, but that had something like a $700 dropoff penalty. Can someone tell me what I'm missing or if there is a fun/good way to get from A to B?
You can avoid the different country drop-off penalty by taking the train from Barcelona to Perpignan to pick up a car. I have found the Renfe Spanish rail website difficult to use, so Spanish train tickets have been the exception to my avoidance of Rail Europe's usually higher ticket prices. But you could have a go at Renfe; perhaps you'll have better luck. If you want to take the train all the way to Beziers, you might check booking to Perpignan, then use http://www.tgv-europe.com/en/?DISTRIBUTED_COUNTRY=GB for the journey on to Beziers; use Great Britain as your country.
Go to www.bahn.de and select USA as language. This is a German website that covers all of the train connections throughout Europe. An invaluable resource.
