I want to go to Amsterdam from Barcelona for just a couple days, and then maybe back to Barcelona after. My question is: plane or train? is one going to be cheaper than the other, or more accessible? which would you recommend?

It's a long journey by train (you'll be sleeping through most of it), but doable. Take the overnight train from Barcelona to Paris (12hours), and then the Thalys high-speed train from Paris to Amsterdam (3 hours). Booked well in advance flying will be be cheaper, Check easyjet.com and Vueling.com
