Barcelona this December

I would love some input on where to stay in Bacelona, both location and hotel. We want to walk to sites and stay in a well located, nice, quiet (minus street and thin-wall noise) hotel. Price is no object but I like either a nice boutique style hotel or a more updated one in a great location....any ideas?...thanx...Molly

Hi Molly

We just returned from Barcelona about 3 weeks ago. We were really happy with our hotel choice for several reasons. Largely, because it was a block off of Placa Catalunya - which I think was a really nice location to be at. Placa Catalunya is the main square, located at the top of Las Ramblas. It makes both Las Ramblas and some of the Gaudi sites completely walkable from your hotel. Additionally, the Placa Catalunya metro stop seems to be kind of the "main" stop that ALL metro lines converge at.

Our hotel was Hostal Goya. It was very modern and extremely reasonable - I think about 85 euros for a double with private bathroom. The design of the hotel was really tasteful (my boyfriend said it looked like HGTV decorated it =) The hotel workers were really helpful also, sitting down with you when you arrive to orient you to the city and provide you with tips, answer your questions, ect. The hotel has two lobbies with computers and free internet, tea/coffee, plasma tv's, ect. Hope this helps. Have a nice trip!

Molly,

I have not stayed there in some time but friends tell me it has improved greatly since that time,

Hotel Lleo right off of La Rambla and next to public transport.

We are going to be there in December too but are staying in an apartment if you need some recommendations for that option. We are staying in Gracia which is one of my favorites.

Buena suerte,

Andrea
