Barcelona/Paris/Zurich

My fiancé and I are planning a 15-day trip through Barcelona/Spain, Paris/France, and Zurich/Switzerland during mid-August 2010. We haven’t sorted out the order that we would visit these countries yet. We are in the process of searching for airline tickets and were wondering if anyone had suggestions on the cheapest city to fly in and out from during this time of year. We live in Chicago, IL.

Also, are there any airline companies that you would recommend for cheap flights? Since we are planning to visit three countries, would a select pass or point-to-point tickets make the most sense? Are there any recommendations for places in these three cities that we should definitely visit during our travels?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! My fiancé and I have never left the continent and are really excited about our first trip to Europe.

Thanks!
Carolina

I would suggest checking with Swiss International Airlines. I just flew with them from ORD>MAD with a connection in ZRH. They serve all of your cities and have quite competitive fares. BTW, this is a great airline…the best I’ve flown (number 1 in Europe according to Skytrax).

Vueling is another budget option that you can check for intra-Europe flights if Swiss is too high for these legs. I know they serve BCN and Paris Orly...not sure about ZRH.
