Barcelona lodging

Any tips for good apartments or hotels (family of 4) in the Rambla Catalunya and Plaza Catalunya area of Barcelona. On the different websites for apartments I'm having a hard time figuring out the exact locations. thanks!

Good choice to look in the Placa Catalunya area. We loved our stay near there (in a hotel not apartment). One of the places I looked at when I though twe would be going with 2 additional people was an apaartment on Passeig de Gracia, one street over from Rambla Catalunya, but parallel. This 2-bdr. apartment was rented out by Hotel Sixty Two, but was next door at P.de Gr. No. 64. Now it looks like the apartments are separate, rented through their own website: http://www.sixtyfourapartments.com/ This is a nice location on a tree-lined street, convenient to many shops and restaurants, and just a few blocks off Placa Catalunya. I can't give a recommendation from personal experience, but I do like the location, and the apartments get great reviews on Tripadvisor.

Just wanted to put in my 2 cents. The metro in Barcelona is very clean, safe, almost idiot proof (and I speak no Spanish or Catalan), with trains in the areas close to Placa Catalunya nearly every 4-8 minutes. We stayed in an apt near Placa Espanya, perhaps 10 blocks west of Placa Catalunya (near the Magic Fountains) and it was not even a 10 minute metro ride, so if you cannot find something right at Las Ramblas/Catalunya, don't be discouraged from going 4-10 blocks west. I usually use www.vrbo.com (vacation rental by owner) and have always had good luck, lots of photos, and most are owned by Americans. Good luck-our family of 4 had a terrific time in Barcelona, lots of people watching, walking around, and we enjoyed Casa Batllo (Gaudi house), Fort Montjuic for the 360 degree, expansive view of the city & Mediterranean, and enjoyed the hop on/hop off bus to see areas that we could not have walked to. Enjoy!
