Barcelona, is it worth the trouble to get to for a 3 day visit?

I will be in Europe for 30 full days and Barcelona is high on my list to visit. However, getting there seems to be a pain.

I will be in Milan, Geneva, Amsterdam and Paris which seem like decent spots to take an overnight train over.

Is Barcelona worth the trouble?

Thanks

I loved Barcelona, one on my favorite place! In 3 days you would cover a lot, there must be a cheap flight from one of the cities you will be at, i do know there is a overnight train from Paris.

I am so happy to read these responses. I was very frustrated because my husband feels he can't take a full 3 weeks off work for our upcoming transatlantic cruise and we only have 2 nights/3 days in Barcelona. Now I feel comforted to hear that although our time is really short, we will be able to experience a lot of Barcelona. He keeps reassuring me that we're come back again when we can spend more time! (hope so!)

i added barcelona to my trip for this summer BECAUSE it was easy (and cheap--on easyjet) to get to from paris. and, well, because it looks amazing! i imagine the same is true coming from geneva or milan--so your trip would look like this: amsterdam, paris, geneva, barcelona, milan (or vice versa). try whichbudget.com for cheap flights, and have a great trip!!!

We were in Barcelona for three days in 2008...it is a wonderful city!! We saw soooo much in 3 days, as well as spending time in cafes and people watching on the Ramblas. It ranks up there with Paris and Prague in my book!! Enjoy:-)

We absolutely loved Barcelona and only had two days but we covered alot. It is a fun place and should not be missed if you can add it to your cities. Can't wait to go back!

I flew to Barcelona from Paris two years ago. It was cheap and easy on easyJet. It is also cheap and easy getting from the airport to the city center. Las Ramblas area is a good place to stay. In 3 days I saw almost everything, walked up and down Las Ramblas, rode the hop-on-hop-off buses, enjoyed the Boqueria market, visited the cathedral, etc.

We flew into Barcelona on April 12th and left on April 15th. We stayed right on 'The Ramblas'. There is lots to do there. Check out Ricks book on Spain 2010. I would recommend going there.

After that we took the Ave train to Madrid. Less then 3 hours on the train.

Barcelona is my favorite city in Europe. I just returned from my second visit there and can not wait to go back. 3 days is not nearly enough but it is definitely worth the trip!

I highly recommend time in Barcelona if you can swing it. We just got back from two weeks in Spain and loved Barcelona. We were there for three nights and saw a LOT, but definitely feel like we left a few stones unturned.

"I was very frustrated because my husband feels he can't take a full 3 weeks off work for our upcoming transatlantic cruise and we only have 2 nights/3 days in Barcelona."

i had the EXACT same issue--and so i'm staying for a week and a half after my husband leaves. i figure we're spending enough time and money just getting across the ocean, i might as well make the best of it! staying without him sounded like a crazy option in my head when i first thought about it (he leaves paris on the eurostar to fly out of london the next day--i fly to barcelona for a week, to london for two additional days, and then home), but now i'm almost more excited about the alone portion of my trip than i am about the 'us' portion!
