I will be visiting Barcelona and think a short distance trip into France might be nice. Will be traveling by bus or train --no car. What cities near the France/Spain border would you visit?

We just returned from Collioure and Perpignan -- both beautiful, fun, and relatively easy to reach. There are two direct fast trains from Barcelona to Perpignan each day, but there's a local transit option as well (a combo of subways and commuter trains). We started in France then returned to Spain and found the experience to be wonderful.

If you like Dali, check out the Dali Museum in Figeres...its a stop along the way & you can reboard the train & continue on!
take a look at Carcassonne on line & see if you might enjoy
