We will be going on a cruise which departs from Barcelona. We would like to spend a few days in Barcelona before the cruise departs but I am unsure as to how many days we should allow to see the major sights. Any recommendations?

I spent 4 nights in Barcelona on my trip in July of 2007. I hit the major sites, spent an afternoon at the beach, and still did not have enough time to see "everything". I think if you just want a taste of Barcelona, two nights will probably be enough.

We always do the same thing with our cruises -- go in two or three days early. Two full days would do Barcelona nicely.

I agree with the other posts, 2 full days would be good. You would have time to see the major sights, public transportation is good in Barcelona and everything is fairly close to each other. However if you wanted to spend more days, there is plenty to do. Barcelona is great, have fun!

I concur with the others, 2-3 days should be more than adequate, although one could just as easily spend years here.
