Trying to find a place close to the city center "La Ramblas" area but not too far from one of the beaches? This would be our first trip to this area, trip is planned for first week of July for 4-5 nights.
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

I booked Hostel Campi. It's not far from Placa Catalunya, about a block off Las Ramblas. It's on the far side of the Gothic Barrio from the sea but still walking distance for us. It has good reviews on tripadvisor. I jumped on the last double room (shared bath) during our time in the city. Go to trip advisor, zoom the map to the area you are looking for and see what you can find. I originally wanted to be closer to the sea but the lodging on that end wasn't as highly recommended.
