Ciao, Julie...and congrats! We really liked Hotel Catalonia Albinoni, located one block south of Barcelona's central square, Placa de Catalunya, at Avinguda Portal de l’Angel 17, phone 933-184-141, www.hoteles-catalonia.com, albinoni.reservas@hoteles-catalonia.es. We paid 180 Euros a night for a double with bath and breakfast. The location is PERFECT, walking distance to Las Ramblas, the Bari Gotic, AND L'Eixanmple. We loved Hostal L'Antic Espai in Barcelona. Ask for room 102, which is larger than most and has a balcony overlooking the street. Very romantic and inexpensive. Spotlessly clean and comfortable.

We stayed in the Hotel Colon & really liked it. A very central location, right across from the cathedral, a short walk to Las Ramblas. Price was very reasonable when we were there about 5 years ago.
