My sister-in-law has offered to give us a hotel voucher for our trip to Spain in May, we will be there for 3 days. The hotel is NH Numancia near the Sants station. I wanted to stay a little closer to the tourist areas, specifically Plaza Cataluyna. I am not sure what the Sants Station area is like since Rick's book doesn't mention this area. Any thoughts on this area? I am having problems finding a clean hotel in a safe area that is reasonably priced (120e or less). Also, the hotel mentioned the best way to reach the hotel is to take a taxi, is that correct? Thank you in advanced.
As I recall, the area around Sants is modern and without character but safe. Sants is on the main Metro line that goes to Placa Catalunya. While it wouldn't be as easy as staying in the Ramblas, if the voucher is of significant value and the hotel looks nice (I'd guess it's more business class), I'd go for it.
Thank you Douglas. The cost savings are significant so we are leaning in this direction.
I just rented a room for 2 nights in August for our family - 2 adults and 2 teenage girls - at the Hostal Neutral. Our rate per night was 89E or $118. It's very basic but it has been described as clean and in the center of things. You might do some research on it. Everything I read sounded basic but fine. www.hostalneutral.es
