Any opinions about whether it's worth taking the lift to the top of either cathedral? I like getting that unusual view/perspective (e.g., loved the spires on the Milan duomo), but not if you really don't see much or if the crowds/lines outweigh the benefits.
I was hoping someone with more recent knowledge would chime in..........I was in Barcelona in 2004. I HATE elevators, and basically had to be shamed into the ride at the Sagrada Familia.
It was fabulous, the view of the city and the construction in the church was wonderful, and the walk down was also a thrill.
It turned into a highlight of the trip for me.
We took the elevator to the top at Sagrada Familia last year and loved it. The view is great but being closer to the cathedral itself was really worth it. I got some great pictures of the unique architecture and really was able to appreciate Gaudi's facades. The walk down is very cool. Worth it! We entered as soon as it opened and were the first in line.
We took the elevator at the Sagrada Famila in May of last year and we thought it was worth it. The line to get on the elevator was fairly long and the wait was maybe 20 minutes as I recall.
