WE are departing at 8am from barcelona back to the us. Is it better to stay in city center or at one of the airport hotels. Some posts seem to imply that it takes just as long for airport hotel transfers as it is coming in from town.

We flew out of BCN in the morning after returning from a Med cruise. We walked off ship, in downtown, were into a cab and to BCN in less than 1/2 hour. No traffic out to BCN that morning.
If you have a look at google maps, you'll see just how close BCN is to downtown.

Hi Becky,
Your question was exactly what I was going to ask. We are flying out of Barcelona in October. Departure time is 7:30 am so we expect we'll need to be at the airport at 5:30. Did you find out if the buses run that early or if there is a good hotel in the airport area?

Depending on your comfort level, I doubt you need to be there that early. I would think that 75 mins will be plenty of time. I normally only shoot for 60 mins - esp since I am not interested in duty free shopping.
