Hey- I know that Barca is a 'night city' and you don't eat dinner until 10pm...I'm not really into clubs, but can anyone suggest some good/safe walking places in the city to go at night?
I'm traveling solo and staying at a hostel in Sants, so will need to take metro back. Is it safe to be out alone at that hour?

Hola, Alayna! Well, yes, I think violent crime is still pretty rare in Barcelona, a lovely, fun city with so much to see and do. The dinner thing, some eat at 9 PM, too, and certainly one can have a good-sized lunch and eat light at night. Living in NYC, I think you'll be fine. Just follow your instincts. Passeig de Gracia is a lovely street to stroll, from Placa de Catalunya, the city's main square. Seemed crowded, safe, and full of lively cafes for tapas. Las Ramblas is safe, I think, in terms of violence, but I wouldn't necessarily carry a purse late at night, due to problems with pickpockets and snatching. In general, if you stick with well-lit, crowded areas, carry yourself with a little of that NYC swagger, don't flash money or jewelry (use a money belt), and follow your gut, you'll love this beautiful city at night. Barcelona has an independent, creative, vibrant spirit that really charmed us...and wreaks havoc for the federal gov in Madrid! Have a great trip.
