I plan on being in Barcelona around the first of November. Can I expect the museums, shops and other places of interest to be closed or have shorter hours than the peak season? Thanks
Your question is way too general. I don't know why shops or museums would be closed, though their hours might be shorter. Each place will have their own schedule. Do you have a guidebook? If you don't, it might be helpful to get one. You can check each place you want to go either in a book or online and it should tell you the days and hours they are open. Have a great trip!
It's a big city, so sights won't close. I think most places stay open an hour or so later in summer because of the longer daylight hours. Other than that, you just have to work around the typical Monday closures.
Not to be negative or anything but the dire straits Spain has found itself in, finacially-speaking, there might be a lot of things "closed" by November.
