We are going to Barcelona next week when the Formula One race is going on and can't find a hotel any sugesstions
Hi Elaine. My husband and I are going to Barcelona next week too and are in the same boat. We cannot find decent hotel in central area for a good price. A relative got us a good rate at the NH Numancia but it is not in a central location. I will let you know if I find anything else.
Thank-you for the informaiton, just tried to book and they are full. Do you have any other suggestions or recomendations?
I stayed at the Evenia Rossello last year and loved it. It's in the Eixample neighborhood and located within walking distance of many sights (and near a few Metro stops, too).
We paid €83/night (not including breakfast) last March, but I'm not sure what their current rates are or if they've bumped them up for the Formula One race.
Good luck!
At this writing, the Ibis Plaza Glories still has rooms available from about 86 Euro per night. Nothing fancy, but clean and comfortable. It's located to the east of Plaza Catalunya, about 4 metro stops away. Click here for hotel info and booking.
We are going to Barcelona in July and if you are staying for at least 3 nights, it might be worth it to look into renting an apartment through www.vrbo.com
We found a lovely apartment with rave reviews.
We stayed at a great place right at the start of the La Rambla and city center. Nice clean, no thrills hotel, family atmosphere. The name was Hotel Loret. It is a bit noisy, but that's because it is literally right on the La Rambla. We did find out they also have apartments for about the same price about a block away!! we will definetly stay with them when we go again.
Last year we stayed in the Hotel Loret apartments located across the street from the Hotel Loret. They have a balcony and you get a show every night since it is on La Rambla. No frills, cheap, refrig, stove, etc. and market very close. It was quiet enough since the beds are a ways from the the balcony. You don't spend a lot of time there so it was perfect. Close to the subway and trains. Close to La Boqueria a great place to eat. We ate there every night. Great food!!!!!
I just snooped around on verere.com and there's a slew of places available. Many have pretty good ratings (we've found that anything above 7.5 with a goodly numers of raters is fine).
A few are hostals. Note the spelling. These are small, family-run hotels, not hostels. These are generally excellent.
I may be wrong, but I think the race was last month and the OP is likely home by now.
Sheeesh!
I will be heading that way in a few weeks. We have rented an apartment for $90 a night. We found the apartment on airbnb.com Hope this helps! Good luck!
