We are arriving around 3pm by train and would like to know more about getting to downtown-Hotel Weierich area.Is it a nice walk? What buses are available? Rick seems to have concerns with taxi cabs.Is the 2km distance a 20 minute plus walk.Thanks for you help.

We stayed at the Hotel Molitor, a sister hotel to the Weierich, and very near it. We caught a taxi to the hotel as my wife had a migraine when we arrived. We walked to the train station on departure. Both worked well. It probably depends on how much luggage you are carrying. There is a bus system in Bamberg but we had no reason to use it. The downtown is walkable and pleasant to see. You will need a map as the route is twisty.
