Bakery and groceries- Frankfurt Airport

We are leaving on New Year's Eve and will be home in time to spend New Year's Eve at my parents house. (My parents met on New Year's 1969, so it will be a celebration of 40 years.)

I would like to bring a few last minute food items home with me, especially some Krapfen (we have every year, but our local bakery has lines out the door for them). How extensive are the offerings at Frankfurt airport (we'll be in Terminal 1) for groceries and baked goods? Should I try for a bakery in Mainz before we leave instead?

Oh, and how are the prices? I seem to remember reading that there are rules that they can't overprice items at the airport like they do here.

I imagine that you can get them at one of the bakeries in the airport. Can't say I have ever looked for "Krapfen". They are just a jelly donut to me! Anyway, the prices at the airport are a bit higher than a regular grocery store, but not that bad. My concern is if you can bring them into the US. One, they have jelly in them - Will they have to be in ziploc bag?? Two, customs can be odd with baked goods. I would check, even so far as to call the airport and ask them.

The Mainz bakery will probably have the better product and that way you can have it packed nice. That couple of hours extra shouldn't make that big of difference it taste. Let us know what customs says.
