I am looking to go to Baden Baden in two weeks on a Thursday and follow the walking tour outlined in RS Germany. That being said, I was also hoping to spend time at the Roman/Irish baths. Questions are: How long does the walking tour take? I'm assuming to add 3.5 hours for the bath portion. Do I need reservations in advance or can I walk up and make some at the baths? I will be coming in from Freiburg via train that morning so my plan was to wake up early and hopefully make it to B-B by 10 depending on train schedule, which would include the 45 minute train ride, plus bus ride into B-B. Any information or advice would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks :)
My BF and I did the Friedrichsbad baths last September, and we didn't make a reservation. We just walked in and right up to the cashier. The whole experience was amazing and I wished we'd had another day so we could go through the process again. Didn't get around to the walking tour because we were so darned relaxed!
I hope that you will have a go at the Eigen Keidel baths just a short bus ride south of Freiberg the previous day. You may like it so much that you rate it when you go to Baden Baden the next day. We try always whenever we are near Frieberg to drop in the Eigen Keidel Bad for a couple of hours. They have nice indoor and outdoor pools, a fun current and other water toys, a great sauna area, great staff, a nice several changing areas. Give it a try and see if you like it. Way cheaper, too. BTW - yes we like B-B very much too and the baths there are very nice. We just keep going back to Freiberg.
