Carol, I can't afford five-star Hotels, but you might start by having a look at the Brenner Park Hotel. As I recall, it's not too far from the elegant Casino, and within easy walking distance to some of the other Spas. I'm sure you would be VERY comfortable there! Happy travels!

Just down from the Brenner Park in towards the centre of town is the Hotel Dorint Maison Messmer Baden-Baden. It used to be the Dorint Sofitel, and prior to that the Sofitel. We've stayed several times. It is normally well above my price point but it often has good deals. Breakfast is scrummy, rooms yummy (they did a great flowers and fruit spread when they heard we were there for a major anniversary - we never asked for anything. Nice pool and spa downstairs. It shares an underground carpark with the Spa.

You didn't ask, but this is worth mentioning. Baden-Baden is just one of several dozen spa resort towns in Germany. It just happens to be the one highlighted by Mr. Steves and most popular with Russians. I personally find it one of the more uninteresting examples, but others may disagree. I bring this up because it's location is somewhat of an outlier from the many other destinations popular with American tourists. Not so much an issue if you take the train, but with all the road construction in the area right now, driving there could not be more frustrating. Bottom line- give us some more information about your trip, and we may be able to provide a better alternative (Aachen, Wiesbaden, Bad Homburg, Königstein, Bad Kissingen, etc).
