We are planning on an 8 night stay in Paris next Spring and would prefer a B & B over a hotel - does anyone have any current experience and recommendations? Trying to stay at 125 Euros a night or less if possible and still get a good location and service.
Did you see the post just put up about one family's experience with a B &B? B & B have never been a common part of the scene in Paris. Why not rent an apartment with a reliable agency?
Check out Hotel Jeanne d'Arc (http://www.hoteljeannedarc.com/) It's not exactly a B & B but has that feel. We've stayed there twice and like the location in the Marais. The rooms are small and they don't have air conditioning so if it's late spring it might not be a good option. You can get breakfast there for an extra charge but we usually opt to get something at a patisserie nearby. It's in your price range at 92 Euro for a double. An apartment is also a nice option in Paris.
Thanks for the suggestion. I have seen several apartment referral sites for Paris on he Net - can anyone recommend a reputable one?
We had good luck with VRBO (Vacation Rental by Owner) but there are many!
We've used Lodgis for the last ten years. They give complete descriptions and photograph everything, including the toilet so there are no surprises.
Try searching the airbnb website. Found two stellar places to stay on a recent trip to London. Fit my budget, hosts were great, locales ideal. I was very impressed by all the options as well. Enjoy.
I had a great experience with Vacation in Paris. They are based in the US -- it's easy to call them and ask questions. You get the key before you leave.
Jim, maybe you've seen my recent post.
As James (I think it was James said), "small town, small accommodation; big town, big accommodation"). I would never recommend a B&B in the bigger cities, most particularly in Paris. Our experience was not good at all.
