B&B's in Brussels and Bruges

I've received a couple of suggestions in an old posting with a different title but want to try again. June - 1 night in Brussels and 2 in Bruges. Hotels seem very expensive (for us, that' $100 or more). Know of decent places that are less expensive but still good location? Thanks for your help. Julia

We enjoyed our stay at the charming Hotel 't Keizershof in Bruges. We loved the location (and the busy restaurant filled with locals next door that the owner recommended). Nothing fancy here, but it seemed like the very authentic, old fashioned B&B one imagines but rarely finds. The couple who run the place are very helpful with any kind of questions and advice. The included breakfast consisted of a large variety of breads and jams and Nutella, with plenty of hot coffee and tea. Overall, it was a terrific value at just 44 EUR per night for a double (at about $60, it's way under your budget, but there are plenty of other ways to happily spend in Bruges). Rick's description of it as "a dollhouse of hotel" seemed very accurate. It was the kind of places that complemented the overall atmosphere of Bruges quite nicely.

Less than $100 per night is a bit tough in Bruges. I don't know if it fits your criterea, but I enjoyed Hotel Adornes. It sits on one of the most beautiful stretches of canal, and has unlimited, free use of bicycles.

I agree with Terry regarding the Hotel 't Keizershof in Bruges. We stayed there for 3 nights. I belive the price was about 40Euros. It is within walking distance of the train station. It is situated between old and new town. The lady at the Hotel washed and line dryed our clothes.

We stayed here at this wonderful B&B in 2006 just outsideof Bruges, about 10 km from the city center. It was within walking distance of the train. We had a car so it wasn't an issue. The owners speak excellant English and were a great weath of information about the surrounding area. It's within in your budget.

I stayed at Contrast B&B in Bruges. I don't recall the house owner's names, but it's a husband and wife. They were so welcoming - I felt right at home! The rates were reasonable and the breakfast was outstanding!
