B&B or small hotel in central Munich

We'll be in Munich in mid May and would like to stay at a B&B or small hotel around Marienplatz and other major sites in the downtown area.
Anyone have a recommendation? Thanks in advance.

Tom, I'm assuming that your reference to "central Munich" refers to the location around the main rail station? Two Hotels that are often recommended here are Hotel Uhland and Hotel Royal. Uhland is about a 15 minute walk from the station and located in a nice residential area close to Theresienwiese, where the Oktoberfest is held. Royal is only about a five minute walk from the station, and an easy walk from Marienplatz and other major sites in the downtown area. I was in Munich in September and stayed at Hotel Royal this time. The room was very comfortable and the breakfasts were fantastic! Happy travels!

Tom, for the area around Marienplatz, these hotels are often recommended on this site, Blauer Bock am Viktualienmarkt Münchner Kindl I can't vouch for any of these hotels as I always stay in a very traditional (non-English speaking) hotel in the suburbs.

I've stayed at Hotel Uhland twice and was very happy with them.

Hotel Uhland is quite a distance (walking) from the Marienplatz. I have stayed there a couple of times, and do enjoy it, but I wouldn't call it close to the Marienplatz. I stayed at the Hotel am Viktualienmarkt last year and found it to be just fine. It's at the south end of the Viktualienmarkt, but still only a minute or two walk to the Marienplatz, depending on how much you buy while trying to walk thru the market!
