I've been trying for weeks to find a hostel, inexpensive hotel or a B&B to stay in but to no avail. I didn't realize until a couple of nights ago that I'm going to Munich during the beginning of Oktoberfest (I thought it started in October).
Do you guys have any suggestions?
I highly recommend the YMCA. It is about a 10 minute walk from the main train station, and another 10-15 minute walk to downtown. The rooms are small and simple, but their is a nice breakfast that you can get for a small price. The neighborhood around seems a bit odd, but it is perfectly safe. Very reasonably priced.
At this point, you might want to start looking outside of Munich. Try searching this forum's archives for treads re lodging during Oktoberfest as there have been a few threads about this fairly recently.
I'm fairly sure they'll be fully booked, but we had a GREAT stay at the Hotel Munchner Kindl. Very friendly staff and comfortable room.
