Check out RS's recommendations on Page 440 of his Germany 2011 Guide Book. These might provide you with some other options. We will be staying at "Hotel Residenz am Zuckerberg Trier on Aug. 25 and 26.

I can recommend the Hotel Aulmann (http://www.hotel-aulmann.de/e_index.html) where I stayed last Easter. Looking at the website I see they've now started charging for breakfast, but there is a good assortment of food and you can fill up then to save money on lunches.
